Light Up…

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

As the parent to an autistic child, I see that they live a lot of their life in a fairytale or alternative state of reality. They believe in things they cannot see or touch. They just believe, wholeheartedly. You watch them LIGHT UP at the thought of what new adventure awaits their minds. The thing is with them, the things they can’t see are more real to them sometimes than the things sitting directly in front of them. If you pay close enough attention, that is normally when they are having the most fun and enjoying their day the most.

We could learn a lot from watching them on the day to day.  We need to walk in faith that the Lord will provide for us. To walk in faith that even though it feels like everything's falling apart, he is keeping the pieces he needs to put you back together better than you were before.  To realize that even though we can’t see or feel him working all the time, these are some of the best and most enjoyable days because the Lord is working, molding and shaping things we have no idea about. When He is done, what a glorious day that will be.

We need to remember that our faith in the Lord needs to be as strong as that image my child sees in his imagination. We need people to see us LIGHT UP at the thought of our Lord.  Let them see our faith oozing out of us, even when we ourselves, can’t understand how we still have it. So go about your day today reminding yourself, don’t rely on what you can see and feel. Close your eyes and remember the Lord is working and LIGHT UP.
