Someone Else’s Dream…

Hebrews 13:5

“ Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “ I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Today I was shaken. Literally, it was about 15 minutes ago that this happened and I knew as soon as I got where I could put this in my book, I would. This morning, going through the court square of  my little town, I noticed a homeless, I believe woman, asleep on the picnic tables that surround our big water fountain, and I teared up. I knew nothing of her story or how she got there but it broke my heart.

I cried and prayed. Lord, please protect her. I don’t know how she got there but please let her be ok. She looked younger, best I could tell. I told myself once I had picked up my breakfast I was going to check on her on my way back by. Well, by the time I went back by. I had already forgotten about checking. Do you have any idea how awful I felt once I got back into work and realized I had already, in about 5 minutes time, forgotten about someone??

How quickly do we forget people? Think about that for a minute. I know we all have busy lives and things going on, but shouldn’t we stop and take a little longer to remember people. Especially the ones that may not have anyone else even noticing if they are gone? By the time I had sat down at my desk, this verse had hit me, he will never leave nor forsake you…. How easily do we feel alone or forgotten? I can’t even begin to imagine how alone or forgotten that woman feels. The one thing we have to always remember is God never leaves us. So, even though she was asleep on a picnic table, wrapped in a blanket, God was watching over her.

He is watching over and protecting us all. No matter how far we fall, no matter how far we run from God, he is with us. You may turn your back and say you don’t believe, but he is still there. Waiting for you to come back home.

Forsaken, I had to look it up to know that I knew the exact meaning. Here, God means it as abandon. He will never leave or abandon us. Is that not an overwhelming feeling of comfort. That no matter how alone I feel, I can always talk to God, because he is listening and waiting for me to call out to him. That just gives warmth to my soul.

Remember to always stay humble and be proud of what you have, because what you have… is someone else’s dream. What God allows for you, is meant for you. If you feel like you have nothing or noone… reach out to God. He is always there and you don’t even need service to talk to Him.
