He Sees You…

Matthew 18:20
For where two or more are gathered together in My name, I am there, in the midst of them.
Growing up I heard a saying and it said, standing in a church pew doesn’t make you any more of a Christian, that standing in the garage makes you a Cadillac. I have known people my entire life who have gone to church every time the doors are open but they are the most hypocritical people you will ever meet. Then I have met people who have never been to church or are not regular goers, and they are more Christ-like than those, so called Christian’s I have met in church.
I am not saying I am perfect, none of us are, and I am not saying those people are not Christians. We all struggle daily, but being a Christian is more than showing up to the church just because it looks good. It’s believing Jesus was born and died and rose again on the third day. Being a Christian is a way of life, it’s a way you carry yourself, the way you treat people and how you handle yourself in situations others might crumble in. The people you surround yourself with.
I want you to realize that just because someone goes to church more than you, that doesn’t make them a better Christian than you, if you don’t go very often or have never been at all. Is having a church family important in your Christian growth, absolutely! But it’s also important to find a church that helps you learn and grow, not belittle you because you don't fit into their stereotypical pocket.
My family goes to a little country church. We went for a very long time without a preacher. We just had fill-ins until we could find one that was the right fit. We have a women’s bible study group on Wednesday nights made up of about 6-8 women whom I love dearly. It is an amazing way to keep growing and learning in my own walk with the Lord. Every time we are there you can feel God’s presence. We are all learning and don’t feel ashamed to ask questions or be vulnerable. This is the feeling you need to look for when looking for a church family or bible study group. Listen to the Lord’s guidance that you are in the best place for you.
I said all that to say this, you don’t have to be in church every Sunday to get into heaven. If you are looking for a church it may take you going to several in order to find that right fit. You may do something as simple as gathering with a couple friends to study the bible and go over things you don’t know or understand. But I promise the Lord is with you in your eagerness to learn and do better. He sees you! You will not be overlooked by God.
