“Forgiving and Forgetting…”

By: Shanna Cole

Ephesians 4:32

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God has forgiven you.

When it comes to holding a grudge, I am the queen. No matter how hard I try, I tend to find it very hard to “forgive and forget.” I recently had a co-worker go off on me, yelling and cursing. I almost let it go but eventually I told management and he was made to apologize.

It bothered me the whole weekend that he was “made” to apologize. When I got to work on Monday morning still holding onto that, I knew it was wrong and I needed to let it go. Was it easy? Actually, yes it was. I have recently started writing things down that are bothering me, folding them up and sticking them in a little tin box and “giving it to God”. God forgives us of all our sins as long as we ask for forgiveness and repent. So why do I think I have the right to hold a grudge on someone’s actions when the Lord doesn’t hold a grudge on me.?  If the Lord can forgive me and all that I have done. Shouldn't I also forgive someone else's actions, if I truly want to become christ like?

It will not be easy, especially if you are like me and tend to hold on tight to grudges. But if you are striving to become better, try to find something that can help you let go and let God deal with it so you can enjoy your day and spread happiness.
