Child of God…

Matthew 5:16

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works that glorify your father in heaven.”

This became one of my favorite Bible verses at a young age. I remember being about 15 years old, sitting in a corner booth at the small restaurant my mom waitressed in. They always kept a bible in this one booth. That morning, I had said a quick prayer and did a “Russian roulette” with the bible pages, randomly opening it and selecting any verse. This was the verse, and it has stuck with me since that day. I still have it written down on an ordering pad and carry it around in my wallet, to this day. 

It has always been a reminder that everything I do should reflect God.  A reflection so bright that when people see me, they see my faith just busting at the seams. That they see the happiness the Lord has instilled in my heart, even on my worst days. 

I want to talk to you and share the stories of my life. When I do, I want you to understand God can help you no matter how far you have fallen. You must understand that I used to be a huge mess. Even though the Lord didn’t make my mess, He will stand beside me and help me clean it up and restore me to better than I was before. The same goes for you.

We owe it to God to glorify him in all things we do. When someone tramples all over your peace today, try to stop and think, “How can I react in a way that is pleasing to God, show this person, I am a child of God, and no matter what they do… I WILL GLORIFY HIM!”
